What I Will Always Spend More On.

I know myself well enough to admit there are certain things I will always spend more money on. I have my preferences, my little indulgences, and a few things I am probably more particular about than most people. However, over the years, I have realized that the things I value most tend to have something in common. They make my life easier, my home more comfortable, or my time with the people I love more meaningful.
I have become more intentional about what I invest in. I want things that last, serve a purpose, or make an ordinary Tuesday feel a little more wonderful. So, I thought I would share a few things I will almost always spend more on, and why.
A Home That Smells Like Mine
Fragrance is one of the first things that comes to mind because nothing carries a memory quite like scent. I love walking through my front door and immediately recognizing the fragrance of my home. It’s something I created myself, something familiar and entirely my own. That small pleasure of coming home to a scent I love is worth paying for.
The Luxury of Knowing Where Everything Is
I will always invest in a well-organized home. Not because I expect everything to look perfect, but because I know how much my surroundings affect how I feel. When everything has its place, I feel calmer and more focused.
Thoughtful storage, well-planned cabinetry, and systems that simplify everyday routines are things I happily spend more on. The value is in having fewer things to think about because your home simply works.
Spaces for the Ones Who Share My Home
My animals have their own washing and feeding stations, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Their supplies have a place, their routines are easier, and caring for them feels like a natural part of the day.
They’re family, and I believe their spaces deserve the same consideration as the rest of my home. A home should make room for the lives actually being lived inside it, including our four-legged family members.
A Home My Son Will Always Want to Return To
This one means more to me than almost anything else. My son is away at school now, and I am increasingly aware that our time together at home isn’t what it used to be.
When he comes back, I want him to feel that this is still his home. His space is waiting for him, and he can settle in and simply be himself. Creating a home he will always want to return to, no matter how old he gets, is something I will never hesitate to invest in.

Travel That Stays With Me
I love traveling, especially when the experience goes beyond the usual itinerary. When we visited Portugal, I wanted guides who could share the country’s history, culture, and stories. I wanted us to understand the places we were visiting rather than simply photograph them.
More importantly, I wanted uninterrupted time with my son. No work, no distractions, just the two of us experiencing something together. Looking back, I remember what we shared far more than what we spent. That’s the kind of travel I will always choose.
A Really Good Night’s Sleep
I take my sleep seriously. A comfortable bed, beautiful sheets, and pillows that actually support the way I sleep will always be worth the investment.
We spend roughly a third of our lives in bed, and the quality of our rest affects everything else. I love ending a long day in a bed that feels like it was made just for me. It’s one of life’s simplest pleasures, and one I refuse to compromise on.
Quiet
This one might seem unusual because there’s nothing tangible to show for it. Still, creating a home where I can truly enjoy quiet takes intention.
For me, that means thoughtful spaces, less visual clutter, and fewer distractions. I love those moments when nothing is asking anything of me, when I can simply sit and enjoy being home. When so much of the day demands my attention, that kind of peace is worth protecting.
And Finally, Time
As I have gotten older, I have become much more willing to spend money on getting my time back. I have learned that not everything needs to be done by me.
If someone can take something off my plate and give me an extra hour to spend with my son, enjoy a leisurely dinner, or simply do nothing, that’s money well spent. Time is the one thing we can never make more of, and I have become increasingly protective of how I spend mine.

What It All Comes Down To
Looking at this list, I realize that very little of it is about owning more. It’s about creating a life that feels good to live. A home I love returning to, meaningful experiences with my son, comfortable spaces for my animals, and the freedom to enjoy my time without constantly feeling pulled in different directions.
I have learned to ask myself one simple question before investing in something:
Because for me, the things worth spending more on are the ones that continue giving long after the money has been spent.
With love,
Make your home yours.
Every Luxure home begins with a conversation.
