Christine Lord Talks Simplifying Life at Home on 239 Live

On a recent episode of 239 Live, hosts Kristen Weardon and Lois Bolin, Ph.D. welcomed our very own Christine Lord for a conversation about simplifying life through practical organization and functional design. The segment aired in recognition of National Simplify Your Life Day, highlighting how intentional spaces can improve daily routines, mental clarity, and overall well-being.
As the founder of Luxure Lifestyle, a Naples-based luxury interior design and lifestyle firm, Christine works with homeowners to create beautifully designed spaces that function effortlessly in everyday life. During the episode, she shared both her personal journey and practical advice on how intentional design can create environments that support daily routines rather than overwhelm them.
From Law to Lifestyle Design
Christine’s path into the design and organization world began with her own experience seeking greater clarity and balance in her life. After spending more than two decades in the legal industry, she realized how dramatically the spaces around us influence how we feel and function each day.
“I founded this company in 2019 from a need to simplify my own life,” she explained. Christine adds that clutter and chaos in the home can often mirror what we feel mentally and emotionally. That realization led her to begin organizing her own space, where she quickly discovered the profound impact that simplifying a home can have on overall well-being.
“When you slow down, uncover what’s in those nooks and crannies in the house, and get rid of it, it’s incredibly therapeutic. Your space becomes peaceful.”
What started as organizing kitchens and closets soon expanded into designing entire homes around the way people actually live. It was the beginning of what would later become Luxure Lifestyle.
Designing Homes Around Real Life
Many homeowners approach design by focusing first on how a space looks rather than how it functions. As a result, functionality is often treated as an afterthought. Christine’s philosophy flips that process by focusing on how daily routines should shape the overall layout of a home.
“I believe in function over the look, and the aesthetic really should be second,” she said during the discussion.
Understanding how a client lives is a critical part of the design process at Luxure Lifestyle. By learning about routines, hobbies, and daily habits, it’s easier to create spaces that make everyday life easier, whether that means a better organized kitchen, a custom closet, or designated zones that support specific activities.
Creating Systems That Support Daily Habits
Throughout the conversation, Christine emphasized that organization does not require perfection. Instead, success comes from creating simple organizational systems that are easy to maintain and aligned with how a household naturally functions. In many cases, that means keeping most items put away while allowing a small portion of frequently used items to remain accessible, as long as everything has a designated place that makes resetting the space easy.
“The best thing you can do is set yourself up for success in the morning the night before,” Christine said. Taking just a few minutes to place essentials in a designated spot, such as preparing lunches or organizing items needed for the next day, can help establish a routine that makes mornings run more smoothly.
These small systems allow homeowners to maintain order without feeling overwhelmed by unrealistic expectations of perfection.
Letting Go of Clutter With Intention
One of the most common challenges people face when organizing is deciding what to keep. Christine encouraged viewers to approach this process with intention and clarity rather than holding on to items simply out of habit.
Letting go of excess items often makes the pieces that truly matter even more meaningful. When special items have a place within the home rather than being tucked away in storage, they remain part of everyday life instead of fading into clutter.
Taking the time to evaluate what truly adds value to a space can also make a home feel more personal and purposeful. By keeping only the items that serve a function or hold genuine meaning, homeowners can create environments that feel calmer, more organized, and easier to maintain.
When It’s Time to Bring in a Professional
For many homeowners, the hardest part of organization is simply knowing where to start. Christine noted that when a project has been put off for a long time, it may be a sign that outside support could help move things forward.
“Anytime you've been procrastinating. Because there's a reason that you haven't done it, and it's haunting you. It's taking mental space,” she explained.
Starting with a single area can often create momentum for larger changes throughout the home. Whether it is a closet, bathroom, or garage, tackling the biggest pain point first can immediately improve how a home functions.
Building Homes That Feel Calm, Functional, and Personal
At its core, the idea is simple: “Customize your home to how you live and how you want to feel in the home,” Christine suggested.
Homes should support the people living in them. When spaces are built around routines, priorities, and personal preferences, they naturally become easier to maintain and more enjoyable to live in.
And through Luxure Lifestyle, Christine continues to help homeowners transform cluttered or inefficient spaces into environments that bring clarity, comfort, and ease to everyday life. Her approach centers on creating homes that feel refined, functional, and natural to live in.
Because when a home works beautifully for everyday life, everything else falls into place. That is the essence of Luxure.
